PRIVACY POLICY
1.1 Data Protection
We have drafted this privacy policy (version 08.02.2021-211141350) to explain to you, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, which information we collect, how we use data, and what options you have as a visitor to this website.
Privacy policies often sound very technical. This version aims to describe the most important things as simply and clearly as possible. Technical terms will be explained in a reader-friendly manner whenever possible. We want to convey that we only collect and use information on this website when there is a corresponding legal basis. This is certainly not possible when providing brief, technical explanations, which are often standard on the internet regarding data protection. We hope you find the following explanations interesting and informative, and perhaps there’s information you weren’t aware of. If you still have questions, we invite you to follow the available links for more information on third-party sites, or simply write us an email. Our contact details can be found in the imprint.
1.2 Automatic Data Storage
When you visit websites today, certain information is automatically created and stored, including on this website. Even while you are visiting our website right now, our web server—the computer on which this website is hosted—automatically stores data for operational security, access statistics, etc.
Typically, these files are stored for two weeks and then automatically deleted. We do not share this data but cannot rule out that authorities may access this data in the event of illegal behavior.
In short: Your visit is logged by our provider (the company that runs our website on specialized computers (servers)), but we do not share your data!
1.3 Cookies
Our website uses HTTP cookies to store user-specific data. Whenever you browse the internet, you use a browser. Well-known browsers include Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge. Most websites store small text files in your browser. These files are called cookies.
One thing is undeniable: cookies are really useful helpers. Almost all websites use cookies. More specifically, they are HTTP cookies, as there are other types of cookies for different applications. HTTP cookies are small files that are stored on your computer by our website. These cookie files are automatically placed in the cookie folder, which is essentially the “brain” of your browser. A cookie consists of a name and a value. When defining a cookie, one or more attributes must also be specified.
Cookies store certain user data from you, such as language or personal page settings. When you revisit our site, your browser sends the “user-related” information back to our site. Thanks to cookies, our website knows who you are and offers you the settings you are used to. In some browsers, each cookie has its own file; in others, like Firefox, all cookies are stored in a single file.
There are both first-party cookies and third-party cookies. First-party cookies are created directly by our site, while third-party cookies are created by partner websites (e.g., Google Analytics). Each cookie must be evaluated individually, as each cookie stores different data. The expiration time of a cookie varies from a few minutes to several years. Cookies are not software programs and do not contain viruses, trojans, or other “malware.” Cookies also cannot access information on your PC.
How and whether you want to use cookies is up to you. Regardless of which service or website the cookies come from, you always have the option to delete, disable, or allow cookies partially. For example, you can block third-party cookies but allow all other cookies.
If you want to see which cookies are stored in your browser or want to change or delete cookie settings, you can find this in your browser settings.
If you generally do not want any cookies, you can configure your browser to always inform you when a cookie is to be set. This way, you can decide for each individual cookie whether to allow it or not. The procedure varies by browser. It’s best to search for instructions on Google with the search term “delete cookies Chrome” or “disable cookies Chrome” if you are using a Chrome browser.
1.4 Storage of Personal Data
Personal data that you electronically transmit to us on this website, such as your name, email address, address, or other personal information when submitting a form or commenting on the blog, will be used by us solely for the specified purpose, securely stored, and not shared with third parties, along with the date and IP address.
We use your personal data only for communication with visitors who explicitly wish to contact us and for processing the services and products offered on this website. We do not share your personal data without consent but cannot rule out that these data may be accessed in case of illegal behavior.
If you send us personal data via email—outside of this website—we cannot guarantee secure transmission and protection of your data. We recommend never transmitting confidential data unencrypted via email.
1.5 Evaluation of Visitor Behavior
In the following privacy statement, we inform you whether and how we evaluate data regarding your visit to this website. The evaluation of the collected data is generally conducted anonymously, and we cannot conclude your identity from your behavior on this website.
More information about how to object to the evaluation of visitor data can be found in the following privacy statement.
1.6 Rights under the General Data Protection Regulation
You have the following rights under the provisions of the GDPR and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG):
-
Right to rectification (Article 16 GDPR)
-
Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) (Article 17 GDPR)
-
Right to restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR)
-
Right to notification – obligation to notify regarding rectification or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing (Article 19 GDPR)
-
Right to data portability (Article 20 GDPR)
-
Right to object (Article 21 GDPR)
-
Right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing — including profiling — (Article 22 GDPR)
If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have been violated in some way, you can file a complaint with the supervisory authority, which in Austria is the Data Protection Authority, whose website can be found at https://www.dsb.gv.at/.
1.7 TLS Encryption with HTTPS
TLS, encryption, and HTTPS sound very technical, and they are. We use HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) to securely transmit data over the internet. This means that the complete transmission of all data from your browser to our web server is secured—no one can "eavesdrop."
Thus, we have implemented an additional layer of security and comply with data protection through technology design (Article 25, Paragraph 1 GDPR). By using TLS (Transport Layer Security), an encryption protocol for secure data transmission on the internet, we can ensure the protection of confidential data. You can recognize the use of this data transmission security by the small padlock symbol at the top left of the browser, next to the web address (e.g., beispielseite.de), and the use of the scheme HTTPS (instead of HTTP) as part of our web address. If you want to learn more about encryption, we recommend searching Google for “Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure wiki” to find good links to further information.
1.8 Google Maps Privacy Policy
We use Google Maps from Google Inc. on our website. For the European area, the company responsible for all Google services is Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland). With Google Maps, we can better show you locations and tailor our service to your needs. By using Google Maps, data is transmitted to Google and stored on Google servers.
Google is an active participant in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, which regulates the correct and secure transfer of personal data. You can find more information at https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI. If you want to learn more about Google’s data processing, we recommend reading the company’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de.
1.9 Google Fonts Privacy Policy
On our website, we use Google Fonts. These are the “Google Fonts” from Google Inc. For the European area, the company responsible for all Google services is Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland).
You do not need to log in or provide a password to use Google Fonts. Furthermore, no cookies are stored in your browser. The files (CSS, fonts) are requested through the Google domains fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. According to Google, requests for CSS and fonts are completely separate from all other Google services. If you have a Google account, you do not need to worry that your Google account data will be transmitted to Google while using Google Fonts. Google collects usage data for CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and the fonts used and securely stores this data.
1.10 Google Fonts Local Privacy Policy
On our website, we use Google Fonts from Google Inc. For the European area, the company responsible is Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland). We have integrated Google Fonts locally, i.e., on our web server—not on Google’s servers. This means there is no connection to Google servers, and thus no data transmission or storage occurs.
1.11 Google Analytics Reports on Demographic Features and Interests
We have enabled advertising reporting features in Google Analytics. Reports on demographic features and interests contain information about age, gender, and interests. This allows us to create a better picture of our users—without being able to assign this data to individual persons. You can learn more about advertising features at https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/3450482?hl=de_AT&utm_id=ad.
You can end the use of activities and information from your Google account under “Ad Settings” at https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated via checkbox.
1.12 Google Analytics Privacy Policy
We use the Google Analytics (GA) tracking tool on our website, provided by Google Inc. For Europe, Google Ireland Limited is responsible for all Google services. Google Analytics collects data about your actions on our website. For example, when you click a link, this action is stored in a cookie and sent to Google Analytics. The reports we receive from Google Analytics help us better tailor our website and services to your preferences.
Facebook Automatic Advanced Matching Privacy Policy
As part of the Facebook Pixel feature, we have also activated Automatic Advanced Matching. This function allows us to send hashed emails, names, gender, city, state, postal code, and date of birth or phone number to Facebook, provided you have provided us with this data. This activation allows us to tailor advertising campaigns on Facebook more precisely to those interested in our services or products.
1.13 Embedded Social Media Elements Privacy Policy
We embed elements from social media services on our website to display images, videos, and text. By visiting pages that display these elements, data from your browser is transmitted to the respective social media service and stored there. We have no access to this data.
1.14 Facebook Privacy Policy
We use selected tools from Facebook on our website. Facebook is a social media network operated by Facebook Ireland Ltd. Through these tools, we can offer you and people interested in our products and services the best possible offerings.
Using certain Facebook tools may send personal data (customer data) to Facebook. Depending on the tools used, customer data such as name, address, phone number, and IP address may be sent. Facebook uses this information to match it with the data it already has about you (if you are a Facebook member). Before customer data is transmitted to Facebook, a process called "hashing" is performed. This means that any amount of data is transformed into a string, which also serves to encrypt the data.
1.15 Instagram Privacy Policy
We have integrated functions from Instagram on our website. Instagram is a social media platform owned by Instagram LLC. Embedding Instagram content on our website allows us to display buttons, photos, or videos directly. When you visit pages of our web presence that have integrated Instagram features, data is transmitted to Instagram, where it is stored and processed. Instagram uses the same systems and technologies as Facebook, so your data is processed across all Facebook companies.
When you access a page with Instagram features, your browser automatically connects to Instagram's servers, transmitting and processing data. This occurs regardless of whether you have an Instagram account. Information transmitted includes details about our website, your computer, purchases made, ads viewed, and how you use our offerings, as well as the date and time of your interaction with Instagram. If you have an Instagram account or are logged in, Instagram stores even more data about you.
1.16 YouTube Privacy Policy
We have embedded YouTube videos on our website to present interesting videos directly. YouTube, which has been a subsidiary of Google since 2006, is operated by YouTube, LLC. When you visit a page on our website that has an embedded YouTube video, your browser automatically connects to YouTube's servers, transmitting various data depending on your settings. Google Ireland Limited is responsible for all data processing in Europe.
When you visit a page with an embedded YouTube video, YouTube sets at least one cookie that stores your IP address and our URL. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can usually associate your interactions on our website with your profile using cookies, storing data such as session duration, bounce rate, approximate location, technical information (like browser type), and more.
If you are not logged into a Google or YouTube account, Google stores data with a unique identifier linked to your device, browser, or app, maintaining your preferred language setting but unable to store many interaction data due to fewer cookies being set.
1.17 YouTube Subscribe Button Privacy Policy
We have embedded the YouTube Subscribe Button on our website. You can usually recognize the button by the classic YouTube logo. When you see an embedded subscribe button, YouTube, according to Google, sets at least one cookie that stores your IP address and our URL, along with information about your browser, approximate location, and preferred language.
If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can save many of your actions/interactions on our website using cookies, associating them with your YouTube account. This provides YouTube with information on how long you surf our site, your browser type, preferred screen resolution, and the actions you take.
YouTube uses this data both to improve its services and offerings and to provide analysis and statistics for advertisers (using Google Ads).
1.18 Zoom Privacy Policy
We use Zoom for video conferencing, allowing easy communication without software installation. Zoom collects personal data like name and email when provided, along with automatic technical data such as IP address and device information. Zoom states it does not use advertising cookies or sell personal data. For detailed information, visit Zoom's Privacy Policy.
1.19 WooCommerce Privacy Policy
Our website integrates WooCommerce, an open-source eCommerce plugin. When you enter information during registration or purchase, it may be collected and processed by Automattic, including personal and payment details. WooCommerce also utilizes cookies for user identification and experience enhancement. For more details, refer to Automattic's Privacy Policy and WooCommerce.
1.20 Klarna Checkout Privacy Policy
We utilize Klarna Checkout for online payments, which collects personal data such as contact information and payment details. It gathers technical data and may use cookies for user convenience. Klarna does not sell personal data. For further details, check Klarna’s official policy.
1.21 Sofortüberweisung Privacy Policy
Sofortüberweisung, operated by Sofort GmbH, facilitates direct payments. It processes personal data including banking details for payment confirmation. User consent for data processing can be revoked, and individuals have the right to access, correct, or delete their personal data. Contact Klarna for more information regarding data processing.
